Victorian water quality analysis summary

Scientell worked with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action to communicate the research findings from the 2022 Victorian water quality analysis. The research was presented via a technical report, a summary report and a short brochure.

Client: Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA)

Audience: Technical water science users, policy- and decision-makers and members of the public.

Description

Every 5 years, the Department undertakes a water quality analysis of the state. The findings help determine management of surface water across Victoria. The project team involved the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Australian National University. Scientell supported the project by editing the technical report for consistency, grammatical accuracy and accessibility.

In collaboration with DEECA and the team we then wrote and designed a distilled version of the report as a summary document for decision-makers. For this, we also selected stylish images and produced a series of engaging infographics.

Scientell then wrote and designed a 2-page fact sheet for a non-technical audience. This fact sheet gave an update on the condition of Victoria’s surface water.

Innovative Features

This project consisted of 3 communications products. The tiered communication approach was critical as different stakeholders need the research information at different technical levels.
