Audience: Early career researchers

Description

Communicating and engaging in activities such as conferences, workshops, media and visits by stakeholders is an increasingly important role for researchers.

Scientell provided a one-day science communication course for early career researchers at ASTRO 3D to help them develop their science communication skills, confidently develop and deliver presentations about their science that tell a compelling story, and visualise their science for engaging content for papers, reports, websites and social media.

The training course was hands-on, with attendees participating in a range of workshop activities to hone their communication, presentation and visualisation skills. The activities were based on a mix of theory, concepts, tips and tools, discussions and individual feedback and advice.

Participants particularly enjoyed the hands-on exercises, including video recording their presentations, with feedback proving that these were a valuable and fun way to practise and improve their skills.
