Scientell managed media communication for the Ecological Society of Australia, monitoring issues and undertaking traditional and social media activities and other communication to raise the profile of the Society, its members and the importance of ecological research.

Scientell worked closely with the ESA Media Working Group, the ESA Board and other office holders to develop and implement a detailed communication plan that aims to help meet the ESA’s outreach objectives. The aim is to increase ESA exposure in the media (including but not limited to traditional and social media), positioning ESA as thought-leaders and a prime source of information and public comment on ecology-related comments, and using rigorous peer-reviewed science to influence the Australian policy agenda.
Scientell provides policy advice, prepares and issues media releases, initiates and runs communication-related meetings and plans and initiates communication for the annual ESA conference, which typically attracts over 500 participants. Scientell also managed the production and sponsorship of the ESA 2018 calendar to raise
Scientell publicises the Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment, which is managed by ESA. Each year, around 100 students share more than $1 million in funds from the fund, which aims to address some of the most urgent environmental problems facing Australia.
