Scientell developed a booklet of activities and ideas to inspire libraries to participate in National Science Week.
Client: Questacon, Inspiring Australia and National Science Week
Audience: Local, council and community libraries, school libraries, early childhood/toy libraries, peak body organisational libraries and tertiary and state libraries.
National Science Week is Australia’s major annual national celebration of the sciences, with over 1000 events across the nation. Inspiring Australia sought to support libraries by providing a targeted resource pack of compelling ideas, activities and suggestions on getting involved.
Scientell developed the pack as an attractive pdf that was distributed via social media and the web. The pack contained brief background on National Science Week, information on where to obtain help, and ideas, activities and resource links to help libraries participate in science-related events.
From activities on soil and slime, sorting science fiction from science fact, to coding classes and 3D printing, there are myriad ways for libraries to be involved.
We interviewed event organisers to compile a collection of case studies and stories to inspire libraries and show the range of science-related activities that had been organised for previous National Science Weeks. We also consulted with libraries, library networks, and Inspiring Australia coordinators to obtain advice on the needs of our target audience.
