CleanUp 2024 Conference media communications

Description

The CleanUp 2024 conference, hosted by crcCARE, took place at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 16 to 18 September 2024. This event marked the 10th International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference and the 4th International PFAS Conference. It attracted around 700 participants from over 35 countries, featuring more than 200 oral presentations and 60 posters.

In collaboration with crcCARE, Scientell managed media communications, social media throughout the conference, served as Master of Ceremonies, coordinated the student essay competition, and drafted the opening and closing speeches.

Scientell reviewed all 200+ conference abstracts and identified more than 20 newsworthy stories that were highlighted to the media. From these, Scientell issued 9 media releases. Radio and print stories from the CleanUp 2024 conference are estimated to have reached hundreds of thousands of people.

In addition to acting as a point of contact for media liaison before and during the conference, Scientell also prepared a conference compilation video.

In conjunction with the conference, Scientell also managed and organised the crcCARE high school essay competition. The best 1000-word essays on a safer, cleaner environmental future received cash prizes and a trip to Adelaide for the conference dinner.

Innovative Features

Scientell worked with Stepping Stone Films to create a compilation video, showing the history of the CleanUp conference series. The video was showcased at the 2024 Conference Gala Dinner.
